CENTERVILLE – Carmela Rose Clement, 88, formerly of Liberty, passed peacefully May 27, 2015, with her family at her side.She was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Anthony and Vittoria Mele Ignazio.
Carmela graduated from The Rayen School in 1944, attended Kent State University, and graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in education. She later received her Master’s degree in Education from Westminster University. Carmela met her husband, Frank “Pete” Clement, and they were married Aug. 12, 1951. Together they had two children, Frank Jr. (Renee) of Dayton and Anthony of Edwards, Colo. She was an elementary school teacher and principal who retired from the Girard School System in 1984.Carmela was a member of St. Edwards Church and the Girard Senior Citizen Group. She enjoyed her family, golfing, and bowling. Carmela will be greatly missed by her sons, Frank (Renee) and Anthony; two granddaughters, Olivia and Victoria; sister, Yolanda Hanuschak, her in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to her parents; she was proceeded in death by her husband, Frank who was born Feb 15, 1923 died Nov. 28, 2013, her brothers; Joseph, Vincent “Jimmie,” and Anthony; and her sister, Lauretta Mediate. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 pm Sun., May 31 and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1, at the Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Monday in St. Edward Church in Youngstown.
