Harold W. Lattanzi, 87
YOUNGSTOWN – Harold W. Lattanzi, 87, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012, at Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness, with his family by his side.
Harold was born on June 7, 1924, the son of the late Orazio and Ollie (Gennaro) Lattanzi.
A lifelong resident of Youngstown, he attended The Rayen School, served briefly in the U.S. Army and was employed by the Youngstown Police Department for 30 years, until his retirement in 1983.
Harold worked as a patrolman and later as an investigator in the police department juvenile division. He received special recognition in 1958 for outstanding police work. Upon retirement from the police department, Harold said he wanted to travel, spend time with his family and help others. He enjoyed bowling, bocci, boxing and doing repair work. Harold was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Meadview Civic Association.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Arthur Lattanzi of Girard; and two sisters, Helen Attanasio of Statesville, N.C. and Marie Pallante of Youngstown.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret E. (Baudile) Lattanzi, whom he married on May 31, 1947; three children, Roger Lattanzi of Alliance, Patricia White of Poland and Kenneth Lattanzi of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Lisa Lattanzi, Kevin White, Sean (Daniella) White, Dana White and Joshua (Amber) Lattanzi; and one great-grandchild, Samantha White.
Friends and family may call at the Schiavone Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Parish on Turin Avenue in Youngstown.
Interment will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
