Martin John 'Butch' Hudak

September 15, 1945 ~ March 20, 2016 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Youngstown - Martin “Butch” Hudak passed away early Sunday morning at Vibra Hospital. Butch was born on September 15, 1945 to Martin and Mary (Zitricki) Hudak in Youngstown.

He attended Chaney High School and after graduation he met his “Baby Doll”, Roslyn Marsco, attending a record hop at the famous Elms Ballroom. They married on May 27th, 1967 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Brier Hill.

Butch retired from the City of Youngstown Water Department after 30 years of employment. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish where he served as an usher and member of the finance committee. He enjoyed helping to clean and prepare the church before every holiday season.

Butch was a great artist. He spent countless hours at the dining room table drawing with his sons who both went on to become graphic artists. In addition to his sons he taught all the children in the family, including his grandson, the love of art.

He enjoyed vacationing in New Orleans for his grandson’s birthday during Mardi Gras season. He also loved spending time in Ft. Myers and enjoyed golfing with his buddies.

Butch was famous for singing his favorite songs “Walking the Dog” and “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” at karaoke venues around Youngstown and Florida.

A fun loving person, always the life of the party, Butch won first place prizes for best costume at numerous Halloween parties.

Butch was a member of Catholic War Veterans post 1292. He was also a member of the Italian-American War Veterans Brier Hill post 12 where he was the “Star Roller” on his bocce team B&B Construction.

Butch leaves his wife Roslyn Hudak, sons Martin at home and Robert (Jen) Hudak of New Orleans. He also leaves his grandson Charlie Harper Hudak, whom he adored.

He also leaves brother-in-law Joe (Sarah) Marsco and many loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends – notably Sam and Charlene Vinion who the family would like to thank for their loving care.

He cherished the children in his family – goddaughters Melissa Marsco and Gabriella Howe, godsons Joey Marsco and John Cutlip, and cousins Gianna and Jeffrey Howe.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Mary, sisters Joanne Kucher and Mary Ann Hudak, father-in-law Joe Marsco and mother-in-law Minnie Marsco and sister-in law Coletta Marsco.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 23rd at St. Anthony of Padua Church with the Reverend Michael Swierz officiating. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to mass in the church.
