Nicholas “Nick the Welder” DiVencenzo passed away peacefully early Friday morning May 27, 2016. He no longer has to endure the pain that cancer inflicted on him.

Born July 6, 1930 in Youngstown, son of Leontino and Rose Zagotti DiVencenzo. He was a 1949 graduate of Liberty High School and US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner of Nick’s Welding for over 40 years. As a remarkable business man, he would always help the southside neighborhood residents anytime they would ask for help. He was a member of St. Dominic Church where he served as usher and member of the parish Knights of Columbus, Lay Fraternity. Nick enjoyed the outdoors, especially, fishing and boating and working in his vegetable garden. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians.

Nick’s family meant the world to him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years; Carolyn Kaminski DiVencenzo of Boardman, his son; Nicholas (Patricia) DiVencenzo of Struthers, his daughters; Nora (David) Montanez of Campbell, Carol Fussnecker of Austintown, and Adele (Milo) Garcia of Allegan, MI. He adored his grandchildren; Ashley, Zachary (Lindsay), Dominic, Antonio, Juliana, Dalton, Alesandra, Harley, Michael, Bridget, Natalie, and Annalecia, his loving sisters; Eleanor Ziobert and Mary Louise (Clarence) Gardner and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law; Harry and Julia DiVencenzo, and their son; Harry DiVencenzo, and a grandson; Vincent Angelo Divencenzo.

Calling hours will be Monday, May 30, 2016 from 6-9pm at Schiavone Funeral Home. A prayer service will be at 9:30am at St. Dominic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

The DiVencenzo family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice staff and caregivers for the genuine compassion given throughout the past six months. Any donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of the Valley in Nick’s memory.
