Boardman - Rose Cifaldi died August 5, 2016 at Humility House in Austintown at the age of 102 years old.

She was born Rose Schiavone on January 28, 1914 in the Brier Hill district of Youngstown. Rose was the daughter of Donato and Maria Carrozzo Schiavone and was raised by her father and step mother, Faustine Anzevino Schiavone. Her family included herself, her sister Anna Schiavone, her five brothers; Joseph, James, and Anthony Schiavone and Rev. Father Fredrick and Harry Anzevino.

She graduated from The Rayen School in 1932 and took a position at the Ottis Elevator Company in Youngstown. She met and married Frank Cifaldi in 1936 who died August 16, 1968. In 1940, the couple welcomed their first and only child, a daughter; Marilouise into the world.

In 1946 she partnered with her husband and brothers, Harry and Anthony to start the Boardman Supermarket which later became the Boardman Sparkle Market where she worked for 37 years.

She is remembered by her daughter; Marilouise Cifaldi Stroble, her son-in-law; Calvin Stroble, her three grandchildren; Marie Stroble Discerni, Calvin Stroble III, and Ann Stroble Brandt, and her three great grandchildren; Emily Discerni, Quinn Discerni, and Marley Brandt as well as many others.

She was a prominent member of the American Business Woman’s Association and the Grocer’s Association. She was a world traveler and an active member of Saint Charles Borromeo Church where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11am yesterday followed by a private burial in Calvery Cemetery.
