Salvador D. Mancini, 84

YOUNGSTOWN ­ Salvador D. Mancini, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 5.
2012. Sal was born on July 18, 1928, in Youngstown, and resided on Stevens Street.
He was the son of Dominic and Louise Colangelo Mancini.
He attended Chaney High School and after graduation, served in the Navy. He was a Youngstown Firefighter for 32 years, retiring in 1981, and also was a cement finisher. He was a member of St. Brendan's and St Anthony's, where he
volunteered making pizza and Easter bread. He was an avid Cleveland Indians
fan and dearly loved the game of golf.  Sal also volunteered his time at
Mill Creek Baseball as a coach and in the development of the baseball field
complex.
His first wife of 30 years, Gloria Julian Mancini, whom he married Sept. 8,
1951, passed away Jan. 23, 1983.
Sal will be dearly missed by his wife of 26 years, Isabel Giampietro
Mancini; his sons, David (Denise) of Liberty and Duane (Palma) of Boardman;
his grandchildren, David Julian, living in South Korea, and Duane and Gina
of Boardman;  his step children, MaryJo (Joe) Lenefonte of Boardman, Carol
Palermo of Youngstown and Jim (Judy) Palermo of Indianapolis; and his step
grandchildren, Joanna Lenefonte of Dayton and Carmen, Anthony and Mario
Palermo of Indianapolis. He also leaves a brother, John (Mag) Mancini of
Youngstown and a sister, Rose Tomidajewicz of Poland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Christopher and
Pat. Sal and his wife, Gloria, also cared for Gloria¹s mother, Jenny, and
reared a nephew, Emil Petrillo of Dayton. He also leaves behind several
nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank the following, The Cambridge Home Health
Care for their time in caring for Sal, Station 15 of the Youngstown Fire
Department for their assistance and to Dr. Chris Economus and his staff.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at
the Schiavone Funeral Home at 1842 Belmont Ave. in Youngstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 9,
at St. Anthony Church in Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, the intent of the family is that any donations made will
be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
