Samuel Albert Carfolo

December 20, 1928 ~ May 30, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years Old

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10am in St. Anthony Church on Turin Avenue for Samuel Albert Carfolo, born December 20, 1928.

Samuel was the son of Assunta (Sue) Genito Carfolo and Crescenzo (Chris) Carfolo.  He was a life-long resident of the west side of the City of Youngstown and parishioner of St. Anthony Church. Samuel passed away on the morning of May 30th at home surrounded by his family.

Samuel was predeceased by his mother and father, brothers: Nicholas (Nicky), Anthony (Teenie), Sammy (age 2) and nephew, Christopher John Carfolo.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eda Marie, daughter, Patricia, Son, Attorney Mark Carfolo (Melanie), his most precious gifts, grandchildren, Olivia and Michael (Mikey) Carfolo with whom he shared years of love and joy, brother, Basil John (Boxy) Carfolo, Brother-in-law, Silvio (Antonia) Restaino, nieces and nephews.

During his career he earned various certificates as a skilled tradesman.  He was employed for 33 years with U.S. Steel, Ohio Works as a boiler maker followed by General Motors, Lordstown where he worked in varied capacities for 15 years until his retirement in 1986.  He was a pioneer in maintenance of the robotic lines added during his time at the Fabricating Plant.

Samuel loved the out doors where he enjoyed gardening, landscaping and all the beauty of nature.  He was a life long fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians.  The events he relished most were spending time with his grandchildren, especially bringing them to various area parks.

Samuel lived his life striving always to do the honorable deed.  He was a hard worker and devoted family man, being a neighbor any one would be blessed to have.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends and family may visit at the Schiavone Funeral Home, 1842 Belmont Avenue on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made in Samuel’s name to either St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Alzheimer Association for Research.

The Family would like to extend their gratitude to the Senior Care Unit at Alliance Community Hospital and the women of Loving Hands, who attended to him with compassion and dignity.
