Anthony Noday Obituary

Anthony R. Noday, affectionately known as Tony, departed from this world on March 31, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. Born on January 11, 1941, in Brier Hill, Youngstown, OH, Tony was the cherished first child of Joseph and Pauline Noday. He leaves behind his loving sisters JoAnn Reali (William) and Mary Louise Price (John C.).
In the vibrant 1950s, Tony and his lifelong friends embraced the era with full gusto, donning the iconic "Greaser" fashion and immersing themselves in the spirit of the Rock and Roll era. A graduate of The Rayen School, Tony initially pursued a career as a draftsman for United Engineering before realizing his lifelong dream of serving in law enforcement.
Joining the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, Tony dedicated himself to protecting and serving his community. Rising through the ranks with dedication and integrity, he eventually attained the esteemed position of Captain of the Jail Division, where he continued to serve with pride and distinction. Upon retiring from the Sheriff's Department, Tony transitioned into a new role as a Peace Officer Educator. As an educator, he imparted his wisdom and experience, instilling passion and dedication in the next generations of law enforcement officers.
Tony's personal life was defined by his enduring love for his wife, the late Rita M. Wagner, whom he affectionately referred to as the girl next door and the love of his life. Together, they shared 56 years of cherished memories and raised two children, Antoinette R. (Josh Krager) and Joseph A. (Tammy Shaffer).
His devotion extended to his grandchildren: Ashley, Anthony (Carrie), Cristian, Cameron (Danielle), Colin (Brittany), Zachary (Samantha), and Tyler, as well as his great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Avery, Nolan, and Garret. To Tony, family was paramount, and he served as the steadfast guardian and unshakable pillar upon which his loved ones relied.
Tony faced life's challenges with a quiet resolve and stoic demeanor, believing that emotions were a luxury for the weak. Yet, beneath his hardened exterior, beat a heart of gold, fiercely devoted to protecting and nurturing those he held dear.
A celebration of Tony's life will take place at Tod Cemetery Chapel, 2200 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, on April 6th from 11am-noon. In honor of his memory, the family requests that donations be made in Anthony's name to FOP Lodge #141 Mahoning County, P.O. Box 805 Youngstown, OH 44501, in lieu of flowers.
Though Tony may have left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory continue to inspire and his legacy endure through the generations.
