Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial said July 17, 2018 in St. Edward Church at 11am for Josephine N. Fortunato Hartman, 103 who died July 11, 2018 in Liberty Health Care Center. Josephine was born November 6, 1914 in Youngstown, a daughter of Tony (Anthony) and Josephine Sabella Fortunato. She was a graduate of the Rayen School and attended Youngstown College. She worked at JC Penny from 1933 to the 1960s and was a manager at the JOANN Fabric Store. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, making a quilt for each grandchild. Her memberships include St. Elizabeth Hospital Axillary where she made new born baby blankets, 55 Club, Sacred Heart of Jesus Axillary, and St. Edward Church. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Diana) Hartman and John (Sally) Hartman; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo E. Hartman whom she married June 15, 1939 in the former St. Ann Church, died March 4, 1979; a son, Dr. Joseph Hartman; two sisters, Nora Scanlon and Sarah Fause; and three brothers, John (Jack) A. Fortunato, Victor E. Fortunato, and James M. Fortunato. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday at the church from 9:45-10:45am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the church in Josephine’s name.
