Alice "Jean" Carelli, 82
AUSTINTOWN – Alice "Jean" Carelli, 82, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 17, 2014, at AustinWoods in Austintown, Ohio.
Jean was born July 2, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Brown University and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art and followed her passion of working as a professional artist focusing on fashion design.
Jean and her husband, Lawrence (Larry), moved from Cleveland to Austintown in 1970.
In her free time, Jean enjoyed painting, crafts, cooking and gardening. She was also very active in St. Joseph's Women's Association, in her younger years, as well as past president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Youngstown Area Grocers Association. In her later years she enjoyed the hobby of cross-stitching.
Jean is survived by her husband, Larry Carelli, whom she married January 25, 1958; son, Frank (Cheryl Geyer-Anderson) Carelli of East Palestine, Ohio; son, David (Kathy) Carelli of Canfield, Ohio; daughter, Lisa Vantell of Austintown, Ohio; three grandsons, Donald Mulholland, Warren, Ohio; Billy Vantell, Austintown, Ohio; Anthony Carelli, Canfield, Ohio; one granddaughter, Gina Carelli, Canfield, Ohio; and one great granddaughter, Angelina Mulholland.
Jean was preceded by her father and mother, William and Gertrude Hansford, her grandparents William and Alice Hansford and her Uncle, George Hansford all from Cleveland.
Viewing of the casket will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Friday, April 25, 2014, at St. Joseph Parish's Vestibule located at 4545 New Rd., Austintown, OH 44515. The mass will immediately follow at 11:00 am.
The family asks that any donations being made should be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
