Argentina "Argie" (Cantelmi) Collovecchio

It is with great sadness that the family of Argentina "Argie" Collovecchio, 92, announces her passing on Sunday, November 28, 2021.  She was born on May 18, 1929 in Sulmona, Italy to the late Filomena Ricci Cantelmi and Michael Cantelmi.  Argie immigrated to the USA when she was ten years old to Youngstown, OH and lived in that area the rest of her life.

The best day of her life was July 3, 1948 when she married Eugene "Cookie" Collovecchio who preceded her in death on July 4, 1983.

She leaves three sons, Sam (Kathy) Collovecchio of Warren, OH; Eugene "Gene" Collovecchio, Jr. of Shaker Hts, OH; and Michael (Raeann) Collovecchio of Lambertville, MI.  She also leaves a brother, Anthony (Rita) Cantelmi in Sulmona, Italy.  Argie also had two grandchildren Christopher (Kimberley) Collovecchio of Sylvania, OH and Teresa (Andrew) Swartout of Temperance, MI. Her greatest joy were her 6 great grandchildren; Bryce, Vincent, Lillian, Evelyn, Barrett and Nolan.

Argie was very active at St. Anthony's Church and School where her boys attended.  She was always ready to help with making pizzas and Easter bread.  She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

She loved organizing and helping with bus trips and traveling. For a woman who never learned to drive she was always on the go.

Her hobbies were making Afghans where she was part of a group of ladies who made quilts/afghans for cancer and Hospice patients. Playing bingo, doing Word Search puzzles and making weekly trips to the Casino were among her other favorite things to do.

Argie was a great cook.  We will greatly miss those meals around the family table during the holidays.

Calling hours will be at Schiavone Funeral Home, Youngstown Ohio, from 4  to 7 PM on Friday, December 3rd.

A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church in Youngstown at 10 AM on Saturday, December 4th with calling hours from 9 to 9:45 AM at the funeral home.
