Augustine Ruggiero

Augustine Ruggiero, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, 84, of Austintown, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, after enduring a long illness. Augustine was born on October 21, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio, a beloved son of Frank and Mary Ruggiero. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Augustine served his country with honor and dedication. His commitment to service reflected a deep sense of duty and resilience that remained with him throughout his life. Augustine was a person of faith and a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His spiritual life was an important part of his journey, offering strength and guidance through the years. He enjoyed assisting others by bringing forth their greatest potential. Working as a high school teacher, CCD instructor, principal, and counselor allowed him to hone his talents by nurturing and inspiring others. His infectious smile and gentle nature shone forth as a beacon of sunshine in the lives of his family and friends. He adored family gatherings, holidays, picnics, reunions, and summers of laughter, joyfully spent gathered around the pool, and dancing till dawn in the loving arms of his beloved wife, Jackie. His heart delighted there, held within the warm embrace of those he loved so deeply. Augustine is remembered by a loving family that includes his son, Augustine II, and daughter-in-law, Melissa; daughter, Danielle Brown, and son-in-law, James; his grandchildren, Sam and Anthea Brown and Tenzin Ruggiero; his sisters, Antamella Docompo and Janet Banko, and brother-in-law, Joe; along with many other beloved friends and family. Augustine was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline; his brothers, John, Dominic, Frank, and Ralph; and his sisters, Christine Kelley and Philomena Ferrero. A Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00 AM in Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, pause to breathe the ever-fleeting gale of spring.
