Catherine "Kay" (Scherl) Petras, 91
Liberty – A gathering of family and friends will take place from 8:30-10 AM Tuesday May 27th at Schiavone Funeral Home for Catherine Petras, 91 who passed away Tuesday May 20 at Park Vista. Kay was born in Youngstown to Adam and Elizabeth Vinsler Scherl on June 17, 1922. She was a 1940 graduate of East High School and married the love of her life Andrew S. Petras on July 25, 1942, who died Nov. 9, 2013. She was an avid golfer and member of Girard Ladies Golf League for many years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and beautiful flowers. Surviving her in death are her two children; John (Fran) Petras of Cincinnati and Linda Petras-McMahon of Chardon, grandchildren; Michelle Brunst of Cincinnati, Ryan (Lisa) McMahon of Charlotte, and Collin McMahon of Columbus, great-grandchildren; Mason, Aubrey, and Emma Brunst of Cincinnati and Ainslee and Kate McMahon of Charlotte. Preceding her in death are her parents and two brothers; Frank and John Scherl. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM Tues May 27 at Our Lady of Sorrows - Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Kay's family would like to thank all the caregivers of Park Vista and Hospice for their compassionate and exceptional care during her time of need.
