Cora Marie Gioglio -- 103
North Lima – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 6, 2013, for Cora Marie Gioglio, 103 of North Lima, formerly of Boardman, who passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Assumption Village Care Center. Cora was born August 9, 1909 in New Kensington, PA., the daughter of Celestino and Enrechetta (D'Amico) Petrarca and came to the area as a child. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Cora was a graduate of East High School class of 1928 and worked as a linotype operator for her father's Italian language newspaper prior to her marriage. When her husband was deployed to Hattiesburg, Miss., with the Ohio National Guard, she wrote articles for the Vindicator about life at Camp Shelby. She was a member of St. Charles Church, also a member and served as national of the 37th Division Ladies Auxiliary, the ITAM Post 3 Ladies Auxiliary, the Reserve Officer's Association Auxiliary, and the Sons of Italy Lodge 858. Cora was recognized as designated Able Toastmaster with Toastmasters Inc. Her husband Fred A. Gioglio, whom she married August 22, 1934, passed away December 19, 1985. She leaves two children, Fred A. Gioglio Jr., and his wife Carmel of Phoenix AZ, and Joanne Malys and her husband John of Boardman, 6 grandchildren, Barbara (Mike) Baker of Hubbard, Lori (Kurt) Sineri of Fullerton CA, Terri (Rusty) Beasley of Alvin TX, Mary C. Malys of Middleburgh Heights, Daniel (Jessica) Gioglio of Cave Creek AZ, and Michelle Gioglio of Provo, UT. Cora also leaves 6 great grandchildren, Lauren, Hollie, and Melissa Baker, James Beasley III, Jack and Nicholas Gioglio, as well as two sisters, Margarite Gondol of North Lima, and Ergia Guarnieri of Liberty and one brother, Fred Petrarca of Sun City AZ. Besides her parents and Husband, Cora was preceded in death by 8 sisters, Rose Andrews, Millie DeBlasio, Helen Marinelli, Clementine Popio, Mary Jimenez, Lucy Young, Julia Latessa, and Elizabeth Fayard, and one brother Charles Petrarca. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7:30 PM Wednesday at the Schiavone Funeral Home and again from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at St. Charles Church, where a mass will be held at 11 AM. The Family would like to thank the entire staff at Assumption Village, as well as Dr. Robert Sprat and his staff, for all their care, love and support for Cora and her family over the years. In lieu of flowers the family suggests material tributes take the form of donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
