Frances (Ilich) Nacarato

August 19, 1930 — February 10, 2019

Youngstown

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Frances Nacarato will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the St. Christine Church. Frances passed away peacefully, Feb. 10, 2019, at Hospice House, with her loved ones by her side. She was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Pulaski Twp, Pa., the daughter of Steven and Elizabeth (Filakowsky) Ilich. She grew up in Pulaski, Pa., and was a graduate of New Castle Union High School class of 1948. Following her graduation, Frances moved to the Youngstown area and worked for Isaly's and later for General Electric Lamp Plant on Market St. in Youngstown, until late 1964. On March 5, 1960, Frances married Joseph R. Nacarato at the St. Ann's Church in Brier Hill. They were married for 28 years, until his passing on Oct. 24, 1988. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she was part of the pizza workers for more than 25 years. Frances will be remembered most for hosting Sunday dinners. For many years family and friends would gather to enjoy a bowl of her pasta and meatballs. Every Sunday her home was filled with the aroma of fresh sauce cooking, even up to the weeks before her passing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Frances leaves five children, Natalie (Jim) Koontz, Nancy (Mark) Butch, Robert J. Nacarato, and Virginia (John) McNally, all of Youngstown, and Anthony J. (Josie) Nacarato of Canfield; a daughter-in-law, Lois (Steve) Ilich-Koho of Austin, Texas; five granddaughters, Jessica (Jeff) Vicarel, Sabrina Nacarato, Monica Ilich, Cara and Casey McNally; two grandsons, Joseph and Domenic Nacarato; and one step-granddaughter, Terra (Charles) Fox. Frances also leaves one sister, Anna Thompson of New Castle; and one brother, Robert (Dolores) DeMetro of Lowellville. Besides her parents and her husband Joseph, Frances was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Charles Ilich; four brothers, Andy Novak, John Novak, Steve Ilich, and Mike Ilich; as well as two sisters, Mary Farrell, and Barbara Vodhanel. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Schiavone Funeral Home and again Friday from 10 to 10:50 a.m. at the St. Christine Church, where a mass will begin at 11 a.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Zeno and his staff for the years of care given to Frances. They would also like to thank the staff of Hospice House for their tender care of Frances and support shown to her family.
