Husam Yacoub Rafeedie, 61
COLUMBUS – Husam Yacoub Rafeedie, 61, passed away in Columbus, Feb. 21, 2012.
Born in El-Bireh, Palestine to Yacoub and Zahwa Rafeedie, Husam emigrated to the United States at age 17.
In 1974, he met and married his wife, Salwa. They have four children, Julie (Dan Haar), Samia (Ramez Ethnasios), Alice (Alex Daoud) and Castro; five grandchildren, Zachary, Zoe Elyse, Dean, Olivia and Alina.
Husam was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mousa.
Husam was a passionate and active member of the community. Over the decades, he was involved as the President of the Arab Community Center, Founder of the Arab American Grocer's Association, Honorary Member of the Girard American Legion Post 235, as well as a member of the Girard Lion's Club. Always good for a laugh, joke and playful stories, he was the life of every party. Further, he will be remembered as an honest and generous friend.
Loved sincerely by his family and friends, he will be dearly missed. May his memory be eternal.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.. and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown, with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Orthodox Church in Youngstown.
