John Joseph Armeni, 58

YOUNGSTOWN – John Joseph Armeni, 58, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 10, after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer.
He was born Jan. 11, 1954, in Youngstown, a son of Joseph F. Armeni and Rosemary Duff. He spent his entire life in Youngstown, where he graduated from The Rayen School in 1972.
John worked for Conrail, later Norfolk Southern Railroad, for 38 years as a conductor. He both excelled at his work, winning numerous safety awards, and enjoyed his work, where he made many life long friends.
He was an active member of UTU Local 1365. John was also a member of St. Anthony's Church in the Brier Hill area of Youngstown.
John was an avid sports fan, an affinity passed on to his three sons, enjoying baseball, football, boxing and rooting for the New York Yankees and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
John was preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. Armeni.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Annette Procick, whom he married April 8, 1983; his three sons, John (Amanda) Armeni of Liberty and Matthew Armeni and Michael Armeni, both of Youngstown; his mother, Rosemary Duff of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Darlene Costa of Austintown; and a brother, Joseph Armeni of Youngstown. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Nina Mae Armeni, who was born May 2, 2012.
Calling hours will be Friday, Oct., 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. with a prayer service to follow at Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown.
Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
