John P. Bartol, 92
Hubbard – A mass of Christian Burial will be said Fri March 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM for John P. Bartol Sr., 92, at Holy Apostle Parish Sts. Peter and Paul Church. John was the son of Andrew and Anna Pavlinic Bartol. He was born Feb. 9, 1922 in Youngstown. He was a Rayen graduate in 1940 and received a degree in Business Administration from Youngstown College. He worked at State Chevrolet and other auto dealers in the area as a sales associate. He was on the Youngstown College Debate Team, an avid poker player, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a WWII veteran serving in the 222nd infantry regiment's Rainbow Division, which liberated Dachau Concentration Camp, and in 2010 he was a passenger on the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He had received the Bronze Star and Campaign Infantry Badge. He will be sadly missed by family, friends, and his poker buddies. He is survived by two sons; John P. (Barrie) Bartol Jr. and Mark A. (Christine) Bartol with whom he made his home, a grandson; A.J. (Nikki) Bartol, a great-grandson; Blake, his cat Callie, and extended family Kay Ratunna, Mary Kay, Bob, and Zachary Bernat. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; the former Katherine A. Kowals whom he married June 14, 1947 died Feb. 6, 1996. Family and friends may call Thurs. 5-8 PM and Fri. 9-10 AM at Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown.
