John F. DelBene, 89
Youngstown-John F. DelBene, 89 died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at 8: oo p.m. at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. He was born Jan. 22, 1923in Youngstown's Brier Hill, Dearborn St. area, and was now living at Woodlands Assisted Living in Poland, Ohio. He was the son of Onofrio and Cecelia Graziano DelBene. He was a member of St. Anthony Church and attended The Rayen School where he joined the CCC Camp. John served in the US Army with the 45th Infantry Division during World War II. He received a Purple Heart for wounds he suffered in battle in Foggia, Italy. He worked at General Fireproofing Co. as a paint sprayer. In 1980, John retired as a clerk from the City of Youngstown Waste Water Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and the Mountaineer Race Track. He is survived by one brother, Patsy (Betty) DelBene and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Capriotti DelBene, whom he married July 26, 1947. She died May 12, 1985. His parents, an infant sister; Carmel, an infant brother; Salvatore, sister; Mary Tarantine, and brothers; Louis, Gabriel, and Anthony also preceded him in death. A mass of Christian burial will be said at St. Anthony Church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday Jan. 21, 2013. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00-10:15 a.m. at the Schiavone Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center and Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion.
