Judy Rogers,

Judy Rogers passed away Sunday evening April 11 at Hospice house in Boardman after a month long illness. She was born in Youngstown the daughter of Edward and Carolyn Rogers. She was a graduate of South High School where she was an exuberant cheerleader for the Warriors. Judy attended Ohio University and graduated from Youngstown State University. She went on to receive a master's degree from Kent State and after graduation spent extensive time in Germany and France.

As Executive Director of the YWCA in the 1980s she was a pioneer who promoted social justice and particularly empowered women economically in their personal careers and in the larger business community. This was not a simple feat! Subsequently, most of her career was spent in financial services both as an insurance agent and in tax preparation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Coy Cornelius and infant son Matthew. Judy is survived by her sister Joan of Gardnerville, Nevada and many loyal friends as well as her beloved dog Silks.

A memorial celebration will be held May 22 from 4 to 8 PM at the Coy Cornelius and Judy Rogers building, 1931 Belmont Ave. This will be an outdoor event with social distancing and safety protocols observed.

Judy was a strong, generous, opinionated, thoughtful, practical, sassy woman an animal lover and a true Youngstown original. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the YWCA of Youngstown in Judy Rogers honor.
