Kay Rimedio, 98
Cleveland – Services will be held at 11 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church on Monday, July 28 for Kay Modarelli Rimedio who died July 23 in Cleveland. Kay was born in Youngstown on May 14, 1916 to her parents, Nicholas and Christina Trolio Modarelli. She worked in the retail food business with her husband Joseph Rimedio who founded Golden Dawn Foods in 1941. She also worked with her brothers Sam and Jim Modarelli at Modarelli Foods on Dearborn St. in Brier Hill and was affectionately known as "The Sausage Lady." Kay was a member of the Supermarket Institute and St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was a dedicated and hard working mother and entrepreneur who is survived by her son Nicholas and his wife Margaret, a granddaughter Nicole, a sister Josephine Catania, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband whom she married Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1937 who died May 19, 1983, and her six brothers, Frank, Sam, Anthony, James, John, and Joseph. Family and friends may call Sun. July 27 from 3-6 PM and Mon. July 28 from 9:45-10:45 AM at Schiavone Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
