Lucille Marie Meso, 68 departed this life July 1, 2024, in a much unexpected way.
"Lucy" was born Jan 25,1956 in Youngstown, growing up on the Northside she enjoyed Crandall Park and stops at Borden Burger through Wick Park on her way to Ursuline where she graduated in 1974 and was a member of their ski club.
Through the years she worked at Higbees, Strouss's, Jazzman's, Jorgine's Deli, and Hallmark.
She was a life-long member of St. Anthony of Padua Church which was the cornerstone of her life. Not only was she baptized there she also attended their school, where she won the eighth-grade spelling bee. Lucy worked in the rectory, taught CCD, and worked spaghetti dinners volunteering her time just like her parents did. She and her husband brought their child up with the same religious background. It was always so meaningful to walk through the doors of this church and will remain so by her family. Lucy enjoyed the Saint Anthony Feast and Briar Hill Fest each year.
Lucy was also a soccer coach alongside her husband for AJSL, working concession stands and was on the board for ten years. Lucy was her daughter's number one fan while watching her games. Together they enjoyed Starbucks (Lucy's favorite was the pink drink) and going to concerts, especially George Straight, Lionel Richie, and Elton John.
Las Vegas was her home away from home having been there 40 times enjoying shows and restaurants. She loved to visit Nashville, Niagara Falls, Frankenmuth, and family in California. She also enjoyed walking around the Strip District in Pittsburgh, Craig Beach, and Conneaut Cabins growing up.
She enjoyed playing Scrabble, 500 Rummy and her favorite shows were game shows like Family Feud, Press Your Luck, 25 Words or Less and shows like Swat, Chicago Fire, and Lifetime movies as well as watching Pittsburgh Pirate's games with her husband.
Lucy always spoke fondly of her memories of Ambrosio's which was her family's restaurant. She was so proud of her Italian heritage and that meant finding the utmost enjoyment in attending festivals, picking peppers and tomatoes from her garden, cooking for her family and hosting parties at their home. Polenta, breaded zucchini, tortellini salad, meatloaf, roast, and pasta were a few of her signature dishes that she knocked out of the park.
She always enjoyed trying new things. Everything she did in this life she did with grace and love and poured her heart into it all. She always went the extra mile to show her love, to know her was to love her, she immediately became a friend. Her smile, her laugh, her jokes, and her curly hair, are all things that only made up a part of the extra ordinary person she was. All these words haven't even begun to touch the surface of who she was. And there is nothing like her "mom hugs".
She leaves to cherish her memory and miss her beyond words, her husband Jerry whom she married May 15, 1982 sharing the same birthday together; her daughter Jess, who she nicknamed pumpkin from the moment she was born on Halloween; her fur baby that she so lovingly nicknamed "Cannoli Mostaccioli"; "All The Little Ones", her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many cousins, and friends she made along the way. She will be deeply missed by everyone's lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Ambrosio and Leonard Julian; her brother, Chuck Julian; several aunts; uncles; and fur babies, Coco, Trish, and Candy.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, starting with a Memorial Mass at 10am in St. Anthony of Padua Church.
