Margarita Pauline Sforza Julius, 77
GIRARD – Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church for Margarita Pauline Sforza Julius, 77.
Marge died peacefully at home surrounded by family, Wednesday afternoon. She died of complications from Alzheimers and a stroke she suffered in November of 2007.
She was born Nov. 24, 1934, in Youngstown, a daughter of Antonio and Pauline Tesone Sforza and lived her whole life in Girard.
She worked at General Fireproofing from 1952 to 1965 and retired in 1996 from Tri-County Credit Union. She was an avid bowler and loved family.
She graduated from Girard High School in 1952, where she was a cheerleader, homecoming queen, elected to the National Honor Society, played intermural volleyball, basketball and softball. As a member of the high school gymnastics team, she won first place all-around at the A.A.U. Meet for the Northeastern Ohio District, competing against college students and private clubs. After high school, she joined the Sokols gymnastics team and placed first in their district meet
She is survived by her husband and caregiver, Robert "Bob" Julius, whom she married Dec. 12, 1955; a son, Robert J. Julius of Lewis Center; a daughter, Angela (Brian) Simpson of Hubbard; grandchildren, Hannah Rose and Ashley Simpson of Hubbard and Neil Simpson of Ravenna; a sister, Helen Carmody of Nashville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Henry, Peter, Angelo and Dominic Sforza; a sister, Philomena Kauffman; and a granddaughter, Angel Margaret Simpson.
Family and friends may call Sunday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown.
