Mary Ann Lavardio Bowell, 91
"Together Again"
BOARDMAN – Mary Ann Lavardio Bowell, 91, died on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 5:26 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.
Mary was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Phyllis Pascarella Lavardio and grew up in the Brier Hill section of Youngstown. She was the daughter of Italian immigrants and had one brother and five sisters. Mary was the last remaining member of her family.
She lived in Boardman after her marriage to Anthony "Bowser" Bowell on April 18, 1942, and also lived in Aurora, Minn., where they made many friends. While there, she belonged to the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW and was a past president. They returned to Boardman in 1962. In their retirement years, they spent the winter months in North Ft. Myers, Fla.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Kelly Bowell and Jessica Bowell; a great-granddaughter, Marina Stetson; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Bowell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Anthony, died in 2005 at the age of 57 from Scleroderma; her brother; and five sisters.
Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Schiavone Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday following the calling hour.
The Mass will be at St. Anthony of Padua Church with Monsignor Michael J. Cariglio officiating.
Burial will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
