Michael J. Naples

September 7, 1966 — September 14, 2025

Fort Myers, FL

Michael J. Naples was born on September 7, 1966, to Mike and Adelheid (Adi) Naples, both of whom preceded him in death. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida. To those who loved him, Michael was known by many names—Michael, Mikey, Uncle Boo, Cumba, Stinky, Honker, Big Dog, King Mike, and a few others we probably shouldn't print. He'll be remembered most for his deep love for his three daughters and his passion for cooking. Michael never once said he didn't feel like cooking—especially on Sundays. A proud (and occasionally extreme) couponer—he did, after all, have a mini Kroger in his basement for years—he opened his home and his heart to friends and family with a giant pot of meatballs and sauce, fried greens, and his famous fried breadcrumbs. Sunday dinners weren't just meals; they were events. He was an active member of the Seven Lakes community in Fort Myers, where he made many close friends—including Abby, John, and Peggy. He loved lounging by the pool or playing the occasional round of golf, no matter how well—or questionably—it went. Michael's love for life, family, and friends was contagious. He lived without judgment and welcomed everyone with a smile. He didn't have a malicious bone in his body and was always happy to see you—whether it had been five minutes or five years. He will be deeply missed by his three beautiful daughters: Colette (Matt), Cara (Malik), and Chelsea Rose; his brother Sandy (Katie); the love of his life, Claudia; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who were lucky to know him. Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Michael moved to Columbus in the mid-1990s, where he worked for the American Ceramic Society and later ABC Supply Company. He eventually retired to Florida, where he continued building a life full of good food, great friends, and laughter. A Funeral Mass will be held at 8:30am on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown, Ohio. Calling hours will be held from noon-3pm following the mass at Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown.
