Michael A. Marsco Jr.

Liberty - Michael A. Marsco Jr. of Liberty Township passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, September 6th following his courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born February 29th, 1956 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Michael A. and Dora (DiFranco) Marsco. After graduating from Ursuline High School, he graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and then received a Master's degree in Business Administration from California Coast University. Michael began his career at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital as the Director of Information Technology and then became a part of Administration Supervision. He also did consulting for various companies in the field of Information Technology. He currently served as the Director of Environmental Services for Shepherd of the Valley. Michael was a member of the Liberty Board of Education and was proud to be a part of the dedication of the new Liberty High School in which he was instrumental in making the new school become a reality for the community. He served many years as the President of the Liberty Township Baseball Association in which he devoted much of his time to ensure that the youth of Liberty had well kept baseball fields, lighting, scoreboards, and concessions to enjoy the sport of baseball and softball. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, watching football--particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers, and most importantly cheering on his grandchildren, nephews, and niece as they engaged in sport activities. Michael also dedicated many years coaching and mentoring youth in football, baseball, and softball. He coached football for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Jr. High and North Side Knights. He enjoyed coaching his own children in sports, and as quoted by his son-inlaw Joe "he was always teaching somebody something." His love and dedication to his children and grandchildren was immeasurable. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son Michael A. (Amy) Marsco III, and daughters Amanda Marsco, and Shana (Joe) Fagnano, and his grandchildren Julianna, Aubrey Lu, Michael Anthony IV, and Robert George. In his last weeks he was able to enjoy the newest addition to the family, his granddaughter Francesca Jo. He also leaves behind his nephews Anthony and Joseph, and niece Gina who were very special to him. He is survived by his brother Anthony "Rick" (Danielle) Marsco. He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Dora Marsco. "His loving memory will be forever in our hearts." Family and friends may celebrate his life on Monday 5pm-8pm at Schiavone Funeral Home 1842 Belmont Ave. A mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday at 11:00am at St. Rose Church Girard, Ohio.
