Orlando Oliverio Iacobucci

Orlando Oliverio Iacobucci, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley. Born on August 28, 1935, in Youngstown, he was the beloved son of Sofia Presutti and Erminio Iacobucci.

Orlando shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Rita Mae, building a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and love. A proud graduate of South High School, he honorably served his country in the Army and Army Reserve before beginning a lifelong career as a butcher. He worked for Kroger and Lloyd Meat Packing, and retired from Sparkle Market, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike for his honesty, dedication, and unmatched work ethic. A proud first-generation Italian American, Orlando cherished his heritage and the values it instilled in him.

A devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Orlando served on the collection committee and lived his Catholic faith through kindness, humility, generosity, and service to others.

Orlando was a proud first-time grandparent to Christopher and Nicholas Iacobucci. He lovingly babysat his pride and joys; never missing a chance to be involved in everything they were a part of. He took them on many memorable vacations and adventures along the way. Especially taking them to Disney World, Presque Isle, and Waldameer.

Orlando was a man of remarkable patience and quiet strength. He rarely raised his voice, always offered a helping hand, and believed family was life’s greatest blessing. Following the tragic loss of his son-in-law, Pete, Orlando lovingly stepped in to help raise 3 of his grandchildren (Adrianna, Anthony, and Rocco), providing them with unwavering support, stability, and unconditional love. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at sporting events, and special milestones.

He especially cherished sharing afternoon coffee and conversation with his son, Brian, where stories, laughter and advice were always plentiful.

Orlando was deeply grateful for his daughter, Marie, whose home became the heart of countless family holidays and celebrations. Through her endless hours of preparing meals, opening her home, and bringing everyone together, she created traditions that strengthened the family’s bond. In his later years, Marie lovingly cared for Orlando with extraordinary compassion, ensuring he was always surrounded by comfort, dignity, and the love of family.

He also took immense pride in his son, Steven, an airline pilot and captain, and loved following his international flights around the world. Orlando eagerly tracked Steven’s flights and always looked forward to hearing stories from the many countries and cultures he experienced throughout his career.

Family and friends will forever remember Orlando’s signature sayings:

“Ain’t no place like Youngstown.” “The anticipation of the event is greater than the event itself.” “I’ve been everywhere…except Heaven.”

A proud South Sider, Orlando was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. He enjoyed making homemade wine, and was famous for clipping coupons, and believed nothing should ever go to waste. Everyone knew to turn off the lights when leaving a room, and those closest to him smiled at his well-known fondness for vinegar.

Orlando is survived by his loving children, Brian (Barb) Iacobucci and their sons Nicholas and Christopher; Marie DeLucia, (Larry) and her children Adrianna, Anthony and Rocco; Steven (Colleen) Iacobucci and their children Zoey, Walker and Reese.

He is also survived by his sister, Florence Iacobucci; his sister-in-law, Frances Tkach;

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Mae; son-in-law, Pete DeLucia; siblings, Adele, Ermelinda (Bernie), Emidio, Ernest (Marianne), Geno (Sandra), Yolanda (Jerry), Guido (Marylou); in-laws, Mary Ann, Gene, Richie, Fred, Heather; nieces Kitty, and Carolyne.

Above all, Orlando believed family always came first. His steadfast faith, tireless work ethic, gentle spirit, and unconditional love created a legacy that will live on for generations. His family finds comfort in knowing that the man who often said he had “been everywhere…except Heaven” has now reached the place he spoke of with such unwavering faith-and has been joyfully reunited with his beloved wife Rita Mae.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7pm Thursday, July 23rd in Schiavone Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at 11:00am on Friday, July 24th for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church in Austintown followed by his burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
