Phyllis A. Cortese, 88
Youngstown – A funeral service will be held Thurs., Sept. 4, 2014 at 7pm in Schiavone Funeral Home for Phyllis A. Cortese who died Sat afternoon in the home of her son James and daughter-in-law Tracey who cared for her for the past ten months. She was born Nov. 4, 1925 in Warren, a daughter of Dominic and Angeline Dunativa Potts. She was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony of Paudua Church in Youngstown. Phyllis was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in 1942 and enjoyed cooking and canning because of her Italian Heritage. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandson Anthony. She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, grandson, two brothers; Joseph and Dominic Potts, two sisters; Angie Potts and Rose Colgan, many nieces, nephews, and two sisters-in-law; Delores McGuire Donaldson and Donna Aurillo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Anthony J. Cortese whom she married July 24, 1965 died Feb. 28, 1995, three sisters; Mary Hurton, Theresa Spelich, Sue Manh, and a brother; Tony Potts. Family and friends may call 4-7pm Thursday at the funeral home. Phyllis's family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers and MVI Hospice. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
