Richard F. Christy

Austintown - Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in St. Joseph Parish Austintown, for Richard F. Christy, 85, who died peacefully at his residence on July 2, 2017. Rich was born in Youngstown on February 1, 1932 to his parents, John and Helen Mochan Christy. He was a Woodrow Wilson graduate and a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a powerhouse repairman for Ohio Edison and G.M. Lordstown. He enjoyed flying, horses, and football. Rich is survived by his son Kyle Christy with whom he made his home; his grandson Ty Christy, his daughters, Diane (Martin) Trebus, Suzanne Shardy, Michele (Mark) D'Eramo, and Chanti Christy; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many "adoptive children" among others. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Diana Vravac Christy whom he married August 26, 1970, died August 22, 2002, and a grandson. Rich will be sadly missed by those who knew him. Family and friends will gather at 10am on Saturday in the church.
