Richard Wainwright, 81 years old, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family. Richard is survived by his wife JoAnn (Paich) who he married on Valentine's Day 55 years ago as well as his daughters, Jody (David) Wilaj and Tracy (Phillip) Stamper. He also leaves behind his sister, Martha (Jim) Valentini and his beloved grandchildren, David Wilaj, Emily Wilaj, and Jake Stamper.
Richard grew up in Youngstown and graduated from Rayen High School in 1963. He then served in the Army from 1965-1967. He then worked as a letter carrier for 30 years in the Brier Hill neighborhood. Richard was beloved by everyone on his mail route, and you would often see him shoveling the walkways of the elderly residents he delivered mail to.
Richard cherished his childhood memories and often spoke of the fond times he had with his brother and sister, Martha and Tom, as well as his cousins, Lorretta Angelo, Johnny Cycyk, and the Perehinez's.
Most importantly, Richard poured his heart and soul into ensuring his family was happy. He was the best father and a hero to his daughters. Sundays were dedicated to spending time at Mill Creek Park followed by a trip to Plaza Donuts and spending time with his daughters, nephew, and nieces. Later in his life, he became a dedicated grandfather. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and always showed up to all their events. He always had an abundance of love to give.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Stella Wainwright as well as his brother, Tom Wainwright.
Per Richard's request, he will be cremated, and arrangements will be made by Schiavone's Funeral Home.
