Rita (Battaglini) Segretario

Youngstown - Rita Segretario, 81, of the city's West Side passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 23, 1935 in Pacentro, Provincia L'Aquila, Italy. She was the daughter of Maria Luisa DiPilla and Domenico Battaglini and came to the United States in 1956.
Rita was formerly employed by Moyer Pants Factory in Youngstown as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She married Cruciano Segretario on September 29, 1956 who preceded her in death on March 6, 1982. A homemaker for many years, she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rita was a very talented seamstress, had a passion to crochet, and loved gardening. Her greatest joys were preparing Italian meals, baking homemade bread, pizza, and pastries, spending time with her family, having everyone together for holidays, and creating lasting traditions and precious memories.
Rita leaves five children, Sam Segretario of Austintown, Rita (James) Kennehan of Austintown, Maria Luisa Segretario of North Jackson, Cruciano (Lisalynn) Segretario Jr. of Austintown, and Angela (John) Rozzo of Canfield; eight grandchildren, Janet (Michael) Vlaiku, Karen (John) Fitch, James (Shaina) Kennehan, Sabrina Segretario, Cecilia Segretario, Melina Rozzo, Gabriella Rozzo, and John Rozzo Jr.; five great grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Vlaiku and Makayla, Carly, and Emily Fitch. She leaves three sisters, Aquilina (Sam) Ciamacco of San Diego, California, Amelia (Robert) Mackovick of Boardman, and JoAnn (Dennis) Hohos of Austintown; one brother, Carlo Battaglini of Lordstown; and a sister-in-law, Tina Segretario of Struthers. She also leaves many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Rita will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Besides her husband and parents, Rita was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mancini and granddaughter, Victoria Segretario.
Calling hours are Friday, March 17, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Schiavone Funeral Home, 1842 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44504.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at noon.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
