Sam J. Patta, 89
Liberty – A mass of Christian Burial will be said Monday April 28, 2014 at 11 AM in St. Edward Church for Sam J. Patta, 89 who died Thursday morning in Austinwoods. Sam was the son of John and Ann Torisk Patta born on Feb. 27, 1925 in Youngstown. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the church, a 1943 graduate of The Rayen School, and attended Youngstown College. After working in the Shipping department of General Fireproofing Company he retired with 38 years of service. Sam is survived by his two sons; John (Georgia) Patta of Brooklyn, OH and Mark Patta of Liberty, two grandsons; Sam and Johnny, and a sister; Jeanette Horvath of Poland. He was preceded in death by his wife; the former Dorothy E. Gilkes whom he married Oct. 6, 1962, died Nov. 4, 2008 and three brothers; Dan J., John A., and Anthony. Family and friends will gather Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at Schiavone Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 AM on Monday in the church.
