Sam Vario

Sam Vario, 98, of Liberty Township passed away September 18, 2025. He was born June 11, 1927, in Youngstown, OH. A son of Anthony and Jenny Vario. He was a 1946 graduate of Chaney High School where he excelled in football and baseball. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He was part of the Greatest Generation. He retired from US Steel where he worked for 35 years. Sam was a sports fan and enjoyed watching football and the Cleveland (Indians) Guardians. He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Josephine (Perruzzi) and grandson, Marc Vario. He is survived by his children, Sandra (Mike Slimmer) Ft. Worth, TX, Tony (Mary Jane) Vario, Austintown, OH, Samuel (Kathy) Vario, Houston, TX and Vince (Mary) Vario, The Woodlands, TX. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In keeping with Sam's wishes, a funeral service will be held at Tod Homestead Cemetery on September 24, 2025 at 10am.
