Sister Mary Amalia Tarolla, 91
Hubbard – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial offered at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica for Sister M. Amalia Tarolla, 91 of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, who died Sept. 20, 2014 at Liberty Arms Health Center.
Sister Mary Amalia was born May 4, 1923 in Barrea, Italy, the first child of the late Emidio Michele and Maria Annunziata Di Silvestri. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters; Angiolina and Anna Maria, and a brother; Mario Vincenzo. She is survived by her sister; Ripalda Tarolla.
Sister Amalia joined the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1939, professed her vows in 1942, and made her perpetual profession on Sept. 8, 1947. Sister Amalia assisted priests at several parishes in Rome and throughout Italy until 1978 when at the age of 55 she was missioned to the United States.
From 1978 until her retirement in 2011, Sister Amalia cared for retired priests in the Diocese of Cleveland, and in the Diocese of Youngstown both at Emmaus House in Louisville and the Villa Maria Teresa Home for retired Priests in Hubbard. From 2011 until her death Sister Amalia continued her ministry of prayer and sacrifice for priests in whatever way possible. She was an excellent seamstress and generously served her community until her final days. She will be most remembered for her many virtues especially her humility, quiet spirit, and sacrificial giving.
We are especially grateful for the loving and skilled care given to Sister Amalia (Carmella Tarolla) by the staff at the Liberty Arms Health Care Center in Liberty, Ohio and Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Oblate Sisters Missions and sent to 50 Warner Rd. Hubbard, Ohio 44425. Calling hours are tonight from 3:30-8:00 PM at the Oblate Sisters Convent Villa Maria Teresa in Hubbard and from 9:30-10:30 AM on Tuesday at the Church.
