Theresa (Parillo) Polovischak

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1125 Turin Avenue, Youngstown, with visitation at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. for Theresa Polovischak, 97, who passed away at Aventura at Humility House in Austintown, OH.

Theresa was born in the Brier Hill area of Youngstown on January 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank Parillo and Lucy (Dominic) Parillo.

Faith was the focus of her life. She prayed daily to St. Anthony of Padua and the Blessed Mother for her family and everyone who needed prayers.

She was the sacristan at St. Anthony of Padua Church for over 20 years. She always would say " It was not a job but an act of love for my church."

She was a lifelong member of the church, the choir, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Auxiliary of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart.

To cherish her memory, Theresa leaves her daughters, Sue Ann (Terry) Rogers of Youngstown and Joan (Jeff) Gillis of Upper Arlington; her three grandsons, Jonathan (Amanda) Rogers, Matthew and Christopher Gillis. Also surviving her is her sister, Frances (Richard) Davies, of Vero Beach, FL.

Besides her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, John Polovischak, who she married on August 30, 1947, and passed away on October 22, 1986; her infant twin brothers, John and Anthony Parillo; and sister and brother-in-law Lucille (Jimmy) Stewart.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care extended to Theresa by the staff of Aventura at Humility House and Patriot Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Theresa's name to Patriot Hospice, 986 Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, OH 44420.

Theresa will be laid to rest next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery.
