Girard – A funeral mass will be held tomorrow, (Sat, Feb, 1) at 10 A.M. in St. Anthony of Padua Church for Velma G. Ponick D'Rummo, 84 who died Wednesday at Select Specialty Hospital. Velma was born in Youngstown on Feb. 11, 1929; the daughter of Fred and Ann Sokach Ponick. She married her husband Ralph on April 16, 1955, who died on March 28, 1971. She was a former member of St. Rocco Episcopal Church. Velma worked as a cashier at JC Penny and Big John's Car Wash. Her hobbies included bowling, Bingo, cooking, and gardening. She leaves her son; Lawrence (Laura Carey) D'Rummo, daughter; Rosemarie (Joe) Ruess, five grandchildren; Amanda, Brian, Kevin, Steven, Olivia, and a sister; Dolores O'Hara. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and brother; Fred Ponick. Family and friends will gather tonight (Fri) from 5-7 P.M. and tomorrow (Sat) at 9 A. M. in Schiavone Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tod Homestead Cemetery.
