Youngstown – Carl S. Buckery, 87, passed away just before 7:00AM Monday, Dec. 6, 2021.
Carl was born in Mcadoo, PA on Feb. 9, 1934 to his parents Ernest and Gizella Kapes Buckery. Before he graduated from Mcadoo High School, Carl enlisted in the US Army at the young age of 16. He spent his 17th birthday in the throes of the Korean Conflict. After being wounded and receiving a Purple Heart, Carl returned home to finish school and graduate from Penn State with a degree in Engineering. With pride and dedication Carl then reenlisted in the Army and spent a total of 11 years serving his country. He was a member of St. Edward Church where he was an usher, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, the American Legion, and Veteran’s Outreach where he also worked.
He is survived by his companion, MaryAnn, who knew Carl since she was 14 years old and spent the last near 15 years together; his children, Tracy Dwarek, Chrissy (Bill) Rodabaugh, Lynnie (Bob) Magiske, Steve Buckery, and David Buckery; his step children, Lisa Romanowski and Jennifer Cleary; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and also, Sharon Ann Kellerman and Fred Mandrick.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Ernest, Gizella (Sis), Joseph, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Robert, and Dorothy; and his two sons, Carl Jr. and William.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 at 11:00AM in St. Edward Church with one hour of calling prior to the service.
