Caterina (Tangredi) DiFiore

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 28, 2021 in St. Anthony of Padua Church for Caterina Tangredi DiFiore, 105, who passed away Monday, May 24th in Sheppard of the Valley.

Rina was born February 3, 1916 in Introdacqua, Italy to her parents Domenico and Carolina DeAngelis Tangredi. She came from a family of 10 children, with two dying before Rina was born. The two were Olga and Angelina Tangredi. Rina was the cherished and often teased “baby” of the family. When Rina was a young teen she survived a rock landslide before moving to America in 1937 at the age of 21. 

She worked for the Ohio Leather Company in Girard and was a member of the church and it’s Altar & Rosary Society. Rina also was a member of the Bugnarese Ladies Society. She loved her God and her faith in him was always evident. She loved to sing, play cards, and tell stories of the past. Bingo was another favorite pastime.

Rina’s family was so important to her, both growing up and to her 13 great-grandchildren. She showed some of that love by crocheting afghans for her children and six grandchildren. Being a seamstress, she was asked to make three wedding gowns which were beautiful and unique.

Rina loved company and always made a visitor feel very important and special. She will be missed by many, but especially by her family.

She is survived by two children, Grace (John E.) Fusco and Sandy (Judi) DiFiore; grandchildren, John (Kelly) Fusco, Robert (Lora) Fusco, Michael (Dayna) Fusco, Melissa (Gene) Tullis, James (Denise) DiFiore, and David (Michelle) DiFiore; great grandchildren, Jenna DiFiore, Brittany (Matt) Cook, Jacob DiFiore, Lauren (Jordan) Kay, Caroline Tullis, Gabe DiFiore, Noah DiFiore, Thad Fusco, Ry ann Fusco, Andrew Fusco, Lucas Fusco, Isabella Fusco, Sofia Fusco; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and child siblings Rina was preceded in death by her husband Vincent (Jimmy) DiFiore whom she married November 25, 1939, died February 1990 and her adult siblings, Pierina (Sam) Penza, Aqualina (Sam) DiCenzo, Seriana (Ottavio) Ottavio, Concettina (Frank) DiFiore, Pietro (Raefela) Tangredi, Marietta (Frank) Santangelo, and Louis (Teresa) Tangredi who are all waiting for Rina’s homecoming.
