Frank R. Delio, 97 passed away July 28, 2021 after a short illness. He was born October 10, 1923 in Youngstown, to his parents Conrad and Jennie DiGiacomo Delio. Growing up on the Northside of Youngstown, graduated from The Rayen School and enlisted in the US Army. Frank served in the European Theatre 12th Armored Tank Division, Company B, also known as “The Hell Cats” during WWII, where he received various medals of service. After returning from the war Frank entered the Berkeley School of Music and graduated with a degree in Arranging and Composing Music. He was a very well known musician who arranged music for many big bands. He taught voice and organ for the better part of his life and was the band leader of the Frank Delio Orchestra and the Big Daddy Revue. He played at The Mansion, Delmonico’s Anesto’s, The Conquistador, The Saxon Club, and the Cow Shed in PA just to name a few. He also played on Jazz Night at the Youngstown Crab Co. and PJ Snappers. Frank was a very kind, helpful and personable man who enjoyed photography, carpentry, and reading. He will forever be missed by his daughter, Jennie Delio; grandson, Nicholas Delio; and great grand children, Lucy and Brady Delio. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary DePalma Delio whom he married May 12, 1949 died June 13, 2017; and his sister, Antoinette Amicarelli. Family and friends will gather on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Schiavone Funeral Home from 3-4:30 pm with a prayer service to follow.
