Leona (Grottoli) Massaro

Brecksville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 2 at St. Dominic Church, 77 East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio at 1:00 pm for Leona Massaro, 97, formerly of Danbury Drive, Boardman, Ohio.  She peacefully passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at The Oaks of Brecksville in Brecksville, Ohio.  Born on May 3, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio, Leona was daughter of Eva and Adolph Grottoli.  She graduated from The Rayen School in 1936 with a major in business.  She married John Paul Massaro on October 26, 1940 and was devoted to her home and family creating countless memories of family celebrations.  Leona is survived by her daughters Eva Marie Vannuki, Jean Anne (Donald) Canestraro, and Janet Lea Severino (Bob Smith).  She also leaves six grandchildren Paul Joseph (Julie) Vannuki, Mark John Vannuki, Donald (Jennifer) Canestraro, Marguerite (James) Burtzlaff, Joseph Paul Severino, and Rose Marie (Kevin) Gregory.  She adored her six great-grandchildren, Erin and Claire Burtzlaff, Maxwell Canestraro, Vincent Vannuki, and Eve Marie and Penelope Rose Gregory.  Leona was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Family and friends will gather from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Wednesday before the mass at Schiavone Funeral Home 1842 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44504. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to the Christ Child Society of Cleveland, 6753 State Road, Parma, Ohio 44134.
